BICEP have announced their third studio album, ‘SLUG’, scheduled for release on January 29th, 2027, through Ninja Tune. The record follows their 2021 album ‘Isles’ and features a wide range of collaborators.

The announcement arrives alongside three singles, ‘Gas,’  ‘Ultra,’  and ‘Equarium,’  featuring Lauren Duffus and SOARR, Eartheater and Saskia, and Kehina, respectively. They follow the previously released ‘Air,’  ‘Lemonder,’  and ‘Viper,’  which feature contributions from Clark, Saskia, and SOARR.

The album also brings together George Riley, KUČKA, Sassy 009, Rowena Fysx, Julia Kent, and Zosia Jagodzinska. Its 18 tracks move between rave, breakbeat, vocal-led compositions, and ambient material.

According to BICEP, the album’s title was inspired by the contrast between familiar land slugs and the intricate forms and colors of their underwater counterparts. “It felt like an amazing metaphor: you think one thing, but actually there’s a whole world beyond what you initially perceive,” the duo explains.

That idea of contrast also shaped the production. The pair revisited demos and techniques from 10 to 15 years earlier, experimented with distorted drums and analogue vocal processing, and developed material in a new studio equipped with a custom vocal booth.

“For this album we really wanted to massively broaden what we do. It felt like a new start for us. We wanted to make a much more varied album than our previous ones and push what people might expect BICEP to sound like. We just wanted an album full of surprises and contrast,” say BICEP.

The singles are accompanied by interconnected short films. Director Alex Takács, also known as Young Replicant, created the three-part visual narrative for ‘Gas / Ultra / Equarium’, following pigeon fanciers involved in a heist. The earlier ‘Air / Lemonder / Viper’ trilogy, directed by Ryan Doubiago, documents UK free party and sound system culture through two real crews.

The album’s visual identity was developed with creative director Viktor H, incorporating analogue photography, printing, rescanning, and layered graphic processes.

Alongside the record, BICEP have confirmed two new BICEP LIVE performances for 2027: March 20th at New York’s Knockdown Center and July 31st at a London venue yet to be announced. Presale access registration is available through their official website, with the presale scheduled for October 29th and general sales beginning October 30th, both at 10 AM local time.

The duo will also return to London’s Royal Albert Hall on November 26th, 2026, for a sold-out performance, following their Australian DJ/AV dates.
