House music producer, DJ, and remixer Cevin Fisher has died; he was 59 years old. An official social media post confirmed it. He was diagnosed with cancer recently.
Born Kevin Fisher in New Jersey, the artist emerged as an influential figure in club culture during the late 1990s. He earned early recognition with a residency at Zanzibar at age 17 before working as an engineer at Arthur Baker’s Shakedown Sound Studios, where he crafted remixes for Chaka Khan and Quincy Jones.
Fisher gained global acclaim through defining vocal and tribal house anthems, including ‘The Freaks Come Out’ and ‘(You Got Me) Burning Up’ featuring Loleatta Holloway. Over his career, he secured multiple UK Top 75 hit singles and released music on prominent labels such as Strictly Rhythm, Defected, and Subliminal, alongside running his own imprint, Import Tracks.
Beyond his recordings, Fisher maintained a strong international touring presence, holding European residencies and performing regularly across global club circuits.
“The internationally acclaimed DJ leaves behind a loving wife, children, family and friends as well as four decades of music, a global following, and an enduring legacy in house music,” the post added.
